Bellarmine College Preparatory
Bellarmine College Prep had very active theatre and music programs but only a converted library and basement music classroom to support them, and so began the planning for what is now the Sobrato Center for the Humanities and the Arts.
Opened in Spring 2010, the Sobrato Theater features a 455-seat thrust stage which can be reconfigured to an endstage format, two vomitory entrances allowing performers to enter through the audience, a fully-rigged stage, a motorized orchestra pit lift, and a full-size orchestra shell to enhance the acoustics of live music performances. The complex also features a theatre/dance classroom/black box, production shops, performer support facilities, band and practice rooms, and visual arts studios, including a ceramics studio.
Landry & Bogan, Inc. provided theatre design assistance to the architect as well as specific designs for lighting catwalks, box booms, seating and sightlines, and the stage lighting and rigging systems, orchestra pit lift, stage plugs and orchestra enclosure
